Villagers stockpile rice as emergency rations for when they get displaced

The Stronghold team pre-positions aid so these villagers are not left starving in the jungle after the Burma Army pillages and destroys their homes.

The Burma Army is well-known for burning houses and food supplies so that villagers are forced to travel away.

In preparation for the next season of fighting, these Karen villagers worked together with Stronghold to stockpile emergency food supplies.

The Stronghold team bought 50-gallon metal barrels to store rice sacks, pictured above. Then villagers buried the barrels underground in the surrounding jungle. Rice is the staple food for Karen villagers, as it is for most people in Asia.

In addition to rice, Stronghold bought crucial cooking supplies such as oil and salt, along with fun snacks for the kids.

The next time this village has an emergency, they will be prepared with emergency aid so that no one has to go hungry.

Thank you to everyone who supports Stronghold’s humanitarian relief efforts and helps provide rice to vulnerable families.

Thank you.
