Stronghold team works with villagers to keep ambulances moving through heavy mud
amid road washouts, villagers help the stronghold team keep ambulances moving
Every year, heavy rain in Burma washes out the dirt roads, forcing villagers to travel by foot. Stronghold’s ambulance drivers have continued driving, but delays are all too common.
Shovels, lifts, towropes, and strong support from the local community are essential for rainy season travel.
On this trip, an ambulance carrying an injured patient became trapped in the mud on a mountain road. Nearby villagers joined the Stronghold crew digging out the ambulance.
The job required the help of many villagers and hours of work to free the ambulance from the mud.
The ambulance became stuck again when it reached the bottom of the mountain. Low, muddy land near a rice field was too soft to drive on. Nearby villagers came out once again to help the stranded ambulance.
After a long day, the driver delivered the patient safely to the clinic, marking another successful rainy season trip.
Thank you to everyone who supports Stronghold, making our life-saving work possible in all seasons.
Thank you.
